My interview with PubliSHEd

My interview with PubliSHEd

This week I did an interview for a local magazine focused on women entrepreneurs. It’s called PubliSHEd and is the co-creation of two local women who are entrepreneurs in their own right. Tricia Keightley is a native KC entrepreneur, connector, and writer. Her partner is photographer extraordinaire Corey Brown. Corey snapped some headshots of me for the article and Tricia conducted the interview over Zoom. It was such a fun and meaningful experience!

In all honesty, even though the opportunity to interview was exciting and truly an honor, it was also relatively terrifying. Who is going to care what I have to say? Who is going to care what I am trying to do? And I definitely don’t want my photograph in a magazine being scrutinized and judged. Isn’t life hard enough?!

But like anything in life, things that are really worth doing will be uncomfortable, make you feel vulnerable, and will stretch and push you to grow. So I dressed up, prepped up and showed up, and let the authenticity of the story take over.

The interview experience helped me remember why I started Rainbow Pooch in the first place and why nutrition, pets and pet health have become my passions. I reconnected with why it’s so important to me to get this product over the finish line so I can make a difference in the lives of pooches and their pooch parents. I also rediscovered why I moved to Kansas City and why I want to be a business owner and build roots in a close knit community of like-minded entrepreneurs - people trying to make a bigger impact, working to contribute to the world in their own unique way and building deeper connections in support of one another.

Even the photo shoot was a blast. Corey knew all the best locations in town and even though it was legitimately freezing she made me laugh so hard I didn’t have time to notice (well, not too much).

I’m so grateful to Tricia and Corey for allowing me to be a part of their story in shaping PubliSHEd magazine as I weave my way into the fabric of women entrepreneurs and pet owners in my new home of KCMO. It’s going to be a wild ride and a fun and fulfilling adventure. Let’s go!!!!
